The organisation

That there are slate-mines all around the little Eifel-village of Recht is well known not only to the inhabitants of Recht. Many of them have visited the mine already during their early childhood, an undertaking which was not without danger, as the mine had been closed for almost 100 years ago.

About ten years ago, on the 17. November 1997, a small group of people had the idea to open up the underground mine to the public by using the mine rail track . The main idea was to make the citizens of Recht familiar with the history of their village. A very ambitious plan, as the goal had been postulated, namely to open up the mine in ten years and to be able to open up for visitors.

And indeed, this timeframe could be kept although there remain still some things to be done.
